Celebrating the mid-autumn festival is always meaningful when spent with loved ones. This year was characterized by an even stronger sense of community and togetherness for those who bring Moonbox to their special gathering. We explored a new way of advancing sustainable lifestyles with the Moonbox and enriched the Mid-Autumn experience altogether.

We cherish Mother Nature as much as those we love.

“Moonbox” symbolizes that a gift of love should be boundless and everlasting in its message and usage.

Hong Kong’s landfills are under tremendous pressure from waste and the rise in consumption of single-use items such as mooncake tin boxes during Mid-Autumn Festival and take-out boxes has skyrocketed in the wake of the coronavirus. We created the Moonbox as an innovative form of gift-giving to combat the growing waste issue that is threatening our motherland. This is also to introduce a sustainable design that stands out from the conventional plastic and tin boxes of mooncake packaging that dominates the market.

Using the concepts – Redefine, Revive, and Reunite, WOL joined hands with StartFromZero (a locally renowned woodwork artist team), Patisserie La Lune (award-winning mooncake manufacturer & bakery based in Hong Kong) and Johnnie Walker (an internationally-acclaimed whisky brand) to create the Moonbox. WOL and its partners dedicate this project to raise community awareness of the importance of avoiding excessive packaging. As well as to avert consumers’ attention towards the simplicity and art of gift-giving. Each Moonbox carries a unique box number and most importantly, customizable engraved messages. This is great for our loved ones, making it the most exclusive and sentimental gift that will last forever. This is also fantastic for businesses to celebrate milestones such as their launch date or stock symbol.

大自然就像母親一樣,是我們都應該要珍惜和愛護的對象。「Moonbox月餅禮盒」是一份禮物象徵著愛是永恆和無界限的。香港堆填區一直承受著空間飽和的壓力,尤其在冠狀病毒出現後,人們在中秋節使用一次性月餅盒和塑膠盒數量提升,為堆填區增加不少壓力。因此我們制作Moonbox作為一個創新形式的禮盒,除了能減輕堆填區的壓力,更希望為保護我們的大自然出一分力。是次產品在材料方面與市面上的傳統月餅盒十分不同,原因是希望能夠帶出一個可持續發展的理念給市民大眾。理念主要圍繞在新定義、賦予永恆、共聚共享,產品由WOL與StartFromZero(一家本地知名的木匠藝術家團隊)、Patisserie La Lune(位於香港的麵包製造商並有屢獲殊榮的月餅)和Johnnie Walker(一家國際知名的威士忌品牌)一同製作。WOL與其合作夥伴都十分重視並致力於這個專案,為求希望可以提高社會對於過度使用一次性包裝問題的關注。每個Moonbox都帶有不同的號碼,最重要的是可以在盒子上自行定製書寫的信息,這將會是一份別具特色的禮物,十分適合送給我們所愛的人。此外,在公司慶祝不同里程碑時,Moonbox也十分適合用於作為一份禮物。

The Moonbox was designed as a limited-edition handcrafted wooden box with foldable legs.

The exteriors were assembled from all natural Pine wood and engraved with a distinctive illustration showing the moon in the midst of floating clouds. Apart from claiming its place as the first whisky travel furniture table ever made in Hong Kong, all its components are biodegradable, reusable and shareable. Inside the Moonbox are delightful PATISSERIE LA LUNE mooncakes in smoky nut and truffle nut flavors. This complements the complexity of the Johnny Walker Blue Label that comes in a refillable bottle with a showcases a trademark smoky and velvety whisky. Stainless steel glasses for whisky and funnel for refilling purposes and stainless steel containers that can be used to serve and store nuts, cheese and candles as well as an amplifier to place your mobile phone when playing music on for enhanced sounds. A timestamp etched to the side of the beautiful Moonbox so that customers can be reminded of this special day of discovery and love.

除此之外Moonbox 裏更包含Johnnie Walker Blue Label、不鏽鋼威士忌杯、不鏽鋼漏斗和可重用器皿,讓顧客們可以用一個禮盒同時享有多重體驗。在盒子裏更設有免插電擴音座,令人們在享受節日氣氛的同時可以有優質的音樂體驗。

Moonbox offers us an opportunity to discover how it could add meaning to this traditional festival through the concept of reusability to safeguard our Mother Nature.
